John Dowd, President Trump’s personal lawyer, went to some unheard of lengths to send money to Manafort and Gates for their legal defense, including pledging $25k out of his own pocket, WSJ reports. wsj.com/articles/ex-tr…
Previously NYT reported Dowd dangled the prospect of presidential pardons for Manafort and Flynn with their legal teams. Together, the stories paint a picture of Dowd engaging in conduct that appears to be calculated to dissuade witnesses from assisting a federal investigation.

WSJ has one source talking about having knowledge of Dowd’s purpose to impede the Mueller investigation from obtaining the cooperation of witnesses against his client. Seems pretty bad
