The lack of empathy here is just extraordinary. Why can’t Corbyn just say: “I’m sorry to see @lucianaberger needs police protection, we are doing all we can do ensure she is safe” rather than denying there are any threats? Is he suggesting it’s for show?!
He just comes across as so stubborn and ostrich-like. He’ll never escape criticisms of his leadership on this issue unless he is more open and empathetic. Demonstrates no insight at all. It’s infuriating really.
I mean, surely even Corbyn’s most ardent supporters must see that his attitude when being interviewed is damaging him and the party. Admitting error and showing empathy (even towards those you don’t agree with politically) is a sign of great strength in a leader, not weakness

John McDonnell suggested the far right were the issue (which I'm sure isn't the reason Berger needs protection at her own Party Conference) but at least he showed some empathy and didn't deny the threats altogether mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…
