Corbyn links the financial crash of 2008 and the environmental crisis, saying it has undermined efforts to tackle planetary risks.
Gets applause for saying there is no greater threat than climate change.
Says Kyoto and Paris Agreement is about 'solidarity'. 'We all have an interest in reducing emissions and giving us all cleaner air,' he says.
'We only have planet', says Corbyn. 'We must re-engage with countries looking to walk away from Paris.' That's just the US (and possibly Australia, depending on election)
Corbyn announces 'our programme of investment and transofrmation to achieve a 60% cut in emissions will create over 400,000 skilled jobs... good jobs, based here and on union rates'.
Confirms Labour plan is to reduce UK emissions to zero by the middle of century. Says it is ambitious but it will be delivered by most far-reaching investment programme 'in decades'.
'Decades' is underplaying it. It'll have to be the most far reaching investment programme in millenia.
Nothing new from Corbyn on the green economy beyond what was trailed and he didn't dive into the detail of how many turbines will be needed, etc.
Lots and lots of questions, but that was the most lengthy and ambitious commitment to climate action from a major party leader in a conference speech that I can recall.
