1/ The SEC knows that Tesla is now a cesspool of risk, and new truly independent directors might not want to take on such personal exposure, so Tesla could struggle to find a good, qualified candidate. This is not bullish.
2/ The SEC didn't like Gracias's retweeting of the InsideEV's production numbers. Nor do they think this board is anything other than a dysfunctional frat party.
3/ The SEC also thinks Todd Marron is a buffoon. They are not wrong. This is also not bullish.
4/ as @TommyThornton has pointed out, Elon now needs to ask permission to leave the classroom to use the restroom. Seems the SEC knows this company is prone to penny-stock manipulation techniques. Say goodbye to the unfettered pumps. Not bullish.
And now the SEC will be looking over Elon's shoulder and will be playing whack-a-mole every time he tries to pump. In case this is not clear, the SEC is now in control of Tesla comms. Not bullish. Anyone want to give me odds Elon violates this soon?

Last week I posted photos of a South Florida storage lot for Tesla. I neglected to inform everyone that a very good fried chicken truck was located on the route to the lot(s). Mostly because I was hungry, i decided to go back. . .

1/ It was announced last week Tesla was planning to repay its 2019 convert with a mix of cash and stock, leading to much discussion on the Twitter, with questions centering on the signaling: is it bullish or bearish? Good question. But, other questions might be better.
2/ Corporate finance 101 says that debt is cheaper than equity, so why not just replace the maturing convert with another? If the capital markets are truly open to you, why spend any amount of valuable cash on debt maturities?
3/ I know Tesla’s credit spreads have widened (blown out actually) and debt would cost more in absolute terms, but the stock is also up $100 points from its last convert issue, and the company is telegraphing blue skies ahead. So again, why not just tap the convert markets?

1/ Ed Dowd makes a very good point here about the technical backdrop in Tesla. The situation now is indeed different. And, when one examines why it’s different, the impact on Tesla shares from Musk’s muzzling by the SEC becomes clear.
2/ To appreciate how much of an impact, it is important to look back at Tesla share performance from the late November 2016 lows, through the then peak in June of 2017 when the stock ripped higher seemingly every day. It’s the period circled in red in the attached.
3/ Keep in mind, during the runup circled in red, there was no material institutional buying during this period. Tencent was the only significant new shareholder. Fidelity added some. Collectively, about 13mm shares between them.

The 3 biggest contributions of the APC to the polity:

1) Showing that whatever PDP did in power politically is not because PDP was PDP but because power is power.

2) That parties can be voted into power and Govts voted out of power.

3) Balancing ethnic interests is not easy.
It used to be that the way Oshi-Omo-Ole emerged as APC Chairman would have been criticised as presidential imposition in PDP; whereas these things are the norm for any president who doesn’t want to find himself in the minority within his own party.

APC has done it now: silence.
2015 for good or bad was a turning point that: if APC could be voted in and PDP voted out, then APC can be voted in and if PDP get its acts together and approaches Nigerians with humility, it can also be voted in.

Citizens are now stirred up, don’t dampen their enthusiasm.

If you are studying STEM and soon to graduate, you are in a high-risk category, please heed this advice. And here's my take based on personal experience:
There are large cashed up corporations running around at careers fairs and such crying out for STEM workers. They'll tell you about their plans for the new hotness, data science, AI, robots, the works.

The issue is, these are all just 'aspirations'.
They'll paint amazing pictures of their graduate programs and how they will have you working on this cutting edge stuff. But trust me, the reality will be turn out to be nothing but an absurd caricature.

We need to have a nuanced conversation about chemical anti-depressants. Take a look at this story: theguardian.com/science/2018/f…
A Guardian blogger claimed that my book tells people to stop taking anti-depressants & this idea got quite widely spread. My book doesn’t say that. Their readers’ editor has now issued a clarification.
In fact it says, p37: “I don’t want to take away anything that gives anyone some relief. If for you the benefits outweigh the side-effects, you should carry on.” That’s been my advice to my own relatives.

#New PA cong. map increases D chance of winning the House majority by 4%. They only need a 6.8% generic ballot margin now (down from 7.7) to be favored.

Diff. will be closer to 10% in Nov when uncertainty from polls is ⬇️. Redraw is a very big deal.

One major reason the new PA map is such a big gain for Democrats is that it solidifies, not just tips, PA districts in Philly burbs. Also creates one additional vulnerable R district. (Easily seen in this map made by @JMilesColeman)
My forecasting model will have new PA map in the near future. This is not just a simple switch; it’s a coding redesign, restructuring of input, & drawing new geographic files. Takes a while (for me, a student).
