PRESS CONFERENCE WRAP: Florence Co. SO was trying to serve a search warrant at a home in Vintage Place around 4 p.m. The suspect started firing at officers. Officials say they had an "advantage" because of the way they were positioned.
The suspect's positioning allowed them to have a view of fire that was several hundred yards. The suspect, we're told, was barricaded inside of the house with children inside. The standoff lasted approximately two hours. The suspect is now in custody.
Seven LEO's in all were shot - 4 from the Florence Police Department, 3 from the Florence County Sheriff's Office. One officer from the Florence Police Department passed away. Chief Allen Heidler called that officer "a friend" and an officer he's known for 30 years.
