A hidden silver lining of these last two despairing years:

I told him that there are three things I hope he takes into adulthood from how he has been raised:
1) Stand up for women. Stand up with women.
2) Stand up for equality. It isn’t enough to not be racist. You’re an example or you aren’t.
3) Remember your privilege.

I love the job of parenting. It’s my reason for being.
These two years though, they’ve galvanized what it is to raise a man.
I despair at this generation but I’m hopeful for the next.
They will make the world better in all the places we’ve made it worse.
