B. My other job is as “continuing ministerial development adviser” for the Bradwell Area (mid- and South- Essex). I try to make sure we’re all continuing to learn… (b1/6)
…and my job description says I have a role in “progressing the reimagining of ministry” (!). I was a Vicar for 12 years, until late 2017, and earlier this year… (b2/6)
… I had a (very small) book published about the role of an incumbent; it’s called “refusing to be indispensable” and it argues that incumbents (Vicars, Rectors and Priests in Charge)… (b3/6)
… should not be at the heart of church life, but rather on the margins, spending about half their ministerial life… (b4/6)
… building and supporting teams in every church to do the work of ministry (in @chelmsdio we sometimes call them focal teams), and about half their ministerial time outside the bounds of gathered church… (b5/6)
