[THREAD] I had this bizarre idea of wordless instructions to make charts, kinda IKEA-in-spirit. Ideally, Everyone can follow these visual instructions even if they don't speak English. I called it the Universal Chart Maker, and I tested it with @msexcel.
Let me show you how to make a simple doughnut chart. Here is a small table.
1. Select the data and, from the Insert menu, select Pie/Dooughnut.
2. No fill and no line in the chart area.
3. Delete the title and the legend.
4. Select all the slices and fill them with gray.
5. Select a slice of interest and fill it with orange.
6. Add labels
7. Format labels from the options menu using percent and category name
8. Select a label and move it.
9. Select a cell and add text.
10. Select a range and fill it with a light tone.
11. Set doughnut hole size to 90%.
If meaning is not obvious, read it in one of the 4 available languages.
More languages will be added to this Google sheet (and you can add them too!) goo.gl/QYR7eW
Here is a complete list of all 50 charts made with this sign system.
This is available as an ebook that you can buy from here.

And I wrote a new blog post about the project. Read it here:

Forgot to add the image to step 11. here it is.
Need to add that most icons come from a great resource, the Noun Project.
