/ A few clips from last week's DExEU SC am session. @SeemaMalhotra1 asks Sir Amyas Morse (Comptroller and Auditor General, National Audit Office) if there will be enough time to draft and pass the 800 Statutory Instruments (SIs) needed before March 2019.
/ Sir Amyas Morse : 'And the other thing that is true, you might reach the end of the transition period and find that you don't have the agreement that you thought you were going to have, at all!'
/ @hilarybennmp : 'Which do you think is going better, preparing for a deal or for a no-deal?' @julianHjessop (Chief Economist and Head of the Brexit Unit, Institute for Economic Affairs) is scathing!
/ @SimonFraser00 (Former Permanent Secretary, FCO) : 'I do have concerns with the approach that we are now pursuing, which is we will have a WA, if we have one, which doesn't actually specify what the nature of the future relationship will be. It is going to be a blind Brexit.'
/ @SimonFraser00 talks about the factors which are affecting the EU's preparations for a no-deal outcome.
/ @julianHjessop : 'I could probably list 100s of different areas where a degree of co-operation is going to be necessary...' *If we leave without a no-deal.* Comments from @jillongovt (Programme Director, Institute for Government) & @SimonFraser00 too.
/ @SimonFraser00 explains very succinctly why a CAN type FTA isn't a form of Soft Brexit.
/ @jillongovt talks about the different types of 'side deals' the UK will have to make with the EU in the case of a no-deal outcome.
/ @SimonFraser00 : 'The fact is we trade x4 times as much with the Czech Rep as we do with NZ.' If you fancy watching the whole of this fascinating session, here's the link:…
