Surely, in the interest of open and fair elections - the government should investigate this (even if JLR gets offered a political promotion or otherwise has his ruffled feathers smoothed, and does not provide the evidence).

Even if he didn’t, whatever happened was sufficiently alarming to him that he has been willing to go public (knowing backlash likely to result) - so it would be no surprise that other Nats (those with an ethical backbone) were alarmed by it too

IMO, the leaking of info about elite’s illegal behaviour should not warrant the persecution of the leaker.
Steps need to be taken to determine if the evidence is indicative that a law was broken; and the person or persons who broke the law should be prosecuted, not the leaker

Malicious seeding of information (that is not indicative of either illegal or unethical acts, or a malicious pattern of behaviour by the person who is exposed) - which is done for malicious or Dirty PR political reasons 👉🏼 is a different story.
