Happy 100th to Russell Kirk. My father always recommended The Conservative Mind, a book I like in part because Kirk recognized the strong Burkean strain in Walter Scott’s novels and political tracts. @KirkCenter @ModAgeJournal @ubookman theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…
I bought my copy of Kirk’s Portable Conservative Reader in grad school. In the checkout line, a classmate expressed confusion over the book’s very concept—“conservative reader” seemed like an oxymoron to him.

By the way, The Conservative Reader has a great variety of authors and genres. One of my favorite selections is Hawthorne’s “Earth’s Holocaust,” a fable about reform.

Home Alone is SO unrealistic: Buzz’s bedroom circa 1990/91 has an Isaiah Thomas poster *and* a Chicago Bulls sticker? Please. No self-respecting fan of either team would have done that. (The movie was set outside of Chicago, so that should have been an MJ poster).
To those of you saying, “Isaiah was from Chicago!” Yes, but Buzz is about 13 or 14. This is what he’d know about Isaiah and Chicago:

- Le séquençage c'est ce qui permet de lire la séquence ADN, mais on ne peut lire que des petits morceaux et on sais pas ou on lis du coup on est un peut embêté pour comprendre ce qu'on a lue
- L'assemblage c'est l'étape algorithmique qui vas permettre de reconstruire la séquence d'ADN d'origine a partir des morceaux qu'on a lue. On fais sa parce que les morceaux partage des séquences communes, sa s'appel des overlaps. Pour sa on utilise un graph d'assemblage

2/ Human systems are systems within systems, interacting in complex ways. No article / paper / logic can capture all interactions of such systems and their evolution over a non-trivial amount of time.
