The scale of this march is something else! Crowds were packed down Park Lane from about 1130am, we have only just reached Trafalgar Square. The sunshine helped lift moods & fire up legs. It’s been an incredible celebration of another face of Britain. #PeoplesVoteMarch
Our section of the #PeoplesMarchVote was big on 80s soundtracks. There was a welcome return of #whitneybrexit (Lancaster House anyone?) & Rick Astley was having a revival moment. #peoplesvotelyrics

Think I’ll sleep tonight with the chant of “Bollocks to Brexit” ringing in my ears. It’s not a usual word of choice. But to hear tens of thousands shouting it, laughing it, cheering it was quite something.

If that’s a thing, I think it is a fitting description of Theresa May.

Some thoughts on why, for all the spectacle of being a lone figure battling on all sides, May does not deserve a nation’s sympathy. /1
All throughout this process, and Brexit is very a much a process (to which I will return), there have been a series of choices. At each turn, May has made very poor choices.

It is those choices which have led us to the precipice on which we sit as a nation today. /2
Of those choices, to my mind, it is the failure of transparency which has had the most serious ramifications.

Indeed, it can’t even be described as a failure of transparency.

It was a conscious choice in May’s part to keep reality cloaked in darkness during her premiership. /3

In central London to cover the #TrumpProtest this afternoon. This is the scene currently on Regent St. March will soon begin moving toward Trafalgar Sq. Police on scene tell me the turnout is much larger than they expected.
I met Kaya Mar, an artist who painted this piece for the #TrumpProtest. He is Spanish but has lived in London for 42 years. "I'm here to show contempt for Trump," he says. "Because of his policies & the way he is behaving. It will take many decades to clean up the wreckage."
Human rights activist Peter Tatchell is here, fresh from a trip to Russia where he was arrested. "The march is a msg of solidarity to the American people who oppose Trump," he says. "Trump's regime is a menace to democracy & human rights not just in the US but around the world."
