9pm: pre drinks- done, gear- on point, taxi- ready.

10.15pm: get into the club, march straight to the DJ, get 'Te Deum for the Peace of Utrecht' played twice, drop mic.

11.45pm: obligatory trip out to the smoking area, even though it's raining like the Great Storm of 1703.

12.15am: return to discover someone has not only mineswept the drink that you left on a cushion but that you've also been mistaken for Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.

1am: brief moment of clarity when you realise you're meant to be appointing a new Bishop of Chester in the morning. You order another brandy and coke anyway.
