Several friends have reached out privately about this tweet. I don't watch or care about football anymore, even though it was everything as a kid, and I played in High School.

The modern crop of NFL athlete is not worth attention.

That said:
Marshall Falk, Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith - how could I not include them?

If I had to pick one, it would be Barry. But over Earl Campbell?

Maybe I'm wrong. Ok, I'm wrong. Swap Campbell and Sanders.
I guess the reason I made the choice is that you can't compensate for sports medicine, and general developments in preparation, diet, and much more.

Past players didn't have this advantage. Like Earl.
But I didn't include OJ because he's a garbage person. So if I do that, I must give Sanders a nudge for his upstanding character, not that Earl Campbell was a bad guy, of course not.

Both are good men, but in hindsight Barry deserves it.
I mentioned Marcus Dupree, in that same vein is Ricky Williams but for different reasons. A guy that had the Dupree and Walker talent, but not the right mind.

Such a shame Bo Jackson got hurt. The greatest athlete I have ever seen.
By the way, Ricky Williams? Idiot. Sad product of that California culture & education system: athlete with the pinnacle of potential & squandered to smoke weed in Australia & "find himself."

Today's terrorist attack in Pittsburgh is truly horrifying. My thoughts go out to the families of the victims. It's not enough to just send condolences, we have to look at the larger trend and acknowledge the biggest terror threat in America:

Hate groups and the extreme right

We get the immediate “both sides”ism coming not only from the right, but the “reasonable centrists”, including from folks I genuinely respect, like @artkellermanmd

But this is not a case of “both sides”. Sure, we are polarized and more divided than in living memory. And that’s not great, and the polarization is mutual. But ONLY ONE SIDE IS ROUTINELY KILLING PEOPLE.
