Here’s the question Lowry, French, etc. should have to answer: Since it is possible to imagine an American political leader contributing through their rhetoric to a culture of racist and anti-Semitic violence, what would that leader sound like and how does he differ from Trump?
In other words, it’s all quite easy to wave away Trump’s rhetoric and say “Whatever sort of language might cause violence, this isn’t it.” It’s a good deal more difficult to explain why. Forcing them to speak in specifics makes that plain.
Note: If your response to these tweets is to say "But what about Prominent Liberal X?", you're missing the point. I'm not asking Lowry or French to defend the proposition that the Left is worse than the Right. I'm asking them to defend the idea that blaming Trump is preposterous.
