a demographic they knew would likely work part time in greater numbers. NHS by contrast keeps recruiting foreigners to cover shortages

This is, of course, deeply upsetting to me to do, as I remember going to the first Women’s March two years ago when I was twelve. My Jewish grandmother made the entire family pussy hats. My Jewish mother took the day off work and we marched for hours around Georgia.

Mothers are the parent most often blamed for their children's misbehavior.

Women are blamed for their husband's ill behavior.

Even when women are harmed by others, they are blamed for their harm.
And while everyone carries this knowledge in their head conciously or unconciously,
this belief that women should know better,
the part never uttered but implied, is that women should know better THAN MEN.

Men love to tell angry women that their emotion negates their intelligence, when an emotional reaction is often a result of knowing and understanding the injustice of a situation. You aren't upset because you lack the depth, and you lack the knowledge.
I had a man tell me that I should have responded to the racism directed toward me with intelligence, and not emotion, and basically that because I didn't, my entire experience was negated.

There is a LOT to unpack there, and frankly, I'm not even sure that I want to lmao.
You, as a white man, wouldn't have gotten angry in that situation because:

1) You don't experience institutional/covert/overt racism.
2) You share the same amount of power as other white men.
3) There would be no stakes for you in that situation.

Sex has *always* been fundamental to the good life. It’s weird that you think people didn’t seek or enjoy sex until recently! The only thing new or (arguably!? Tho I disagree with this) American is that sex and desire are part of open popular culture
HOWEVER, the other things that that are ~new~ in the world of sex are female sexual agency and gay acceptance. If you wonder why sexual culture in America changed dramatically in the second half of the 20th c, may I introduce you to women? And to queer culture?
