1. I keep trying to explain what cured ballots are. Let me do this here. Arizona is apparently screwy, but in Florida...

If there is a signature issue, or any issue regarding the return of a Vote by Mail ballot, the person will be notated. We have a "Track My Ballot" system.
2. The voters themselves can track the ballot, but the Vote by Mail ballot is flagged in Florida Voter Registration System as "Returned with Voter Error." All of this again goes on the tracking system. Or, it is supposed to go in the tracking system like most others did.
3. Since this information is notated in the Florida Voter Registration System, all election workers are able to view it and assist the voter. All voters with signature errors are mailed a letter along with the Cure Affidavit. There are two: Mis-Matched or Signature Does Not Match
4. The other error is: Vote by Mail ballot was not signed b) If the voter returns the Cure Affidavit without the required identification.

SEO then mails (should) a second letter notifying the voter, and contact is attempted per phone, address on the voter registration.
5. Vote by Mail ballots with a signature mis-match are presented to the Canvassing Board at the next meeting on schedule. They compare the signature on the Certificate, to the signatures on file in the Florida Voter Registration System. If it's good, it's counted. But...
6. But if the Canvassing Board says the signature does not match & Cure Affidavit submission deadline has not passed, they vote to table the ballot for later review to give the voter time to submit the Signature Cure Affidavit and the proper identification to SoE.
7. Let's say the Cure Affidavit deadline has passed. Then Canvassing Board will make a final ruling on the Vote by Mail ballot – whether to accept or reject it. Accepted ballots are then tabulated and rejected ballots are marked as illegal per statute.

And importantly...
8. Tabled Vote by Mail ballots, which were not cured, are supposed to be returned to the Canvassing Board on Election Day for a final determination and vote by the Canvassing Board. In Florida, you can see why just from the process alone, it's ripe for fraud. In Arizona...
9. In Arizona, it would appear they didn't even have a "uniform deadline" for those ballots. The GOP suit just for cures could impact about 6k ballots in Maricopa County, alone. They asked Maricopa County Recorder's to separate them for potential examination, "if needed." Also..
10. Recorder in Maricopa allowed voters to decide what "emergency voting" from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Monday meant. In other words, they were early voting while other precincts applied a textualist interpretation. But at least in Florida we do have a system for curing...
11. The problem is that it doesn't matter what procedure calls for if people aren't following it across the board statewide. Arizona is all over the map. But others just ignore it in Florida, anyway. We can and have to do better than this.
12. Just to wrap up, go back & reread through the curing process. Brenda Snipes has a habit of skipping a few steps. But it's ripe for everyone.

TSSE is a must.

Transparent. Statewide. Standardized. Elections.
