Ramai yang kononnya 'true fans' triggered dengan new fans yang baru dengar Bohemian Rhapsody.

Bagi aku, it doesnt matter either u discover it now or later.

Thread ni utk listener yg baru kenal Bohemian Rhapsody & kenapa 'bagi aku' BH is the greatest song ever written.

Sebelum aku start, let me emphasize 2 things, this thread is for newbie,kalau ada salah silap, mohon betulkan.

and yang kedua, thread ini adalah pendapat peribadi, sebab tu aku letak 'bagi aku'.

Music is down to the individual. If you don't like Bohemian Rhapsody but think Love Yourself by Bieber is the best song ever then your opinion is also fine. You'll just find fewer people agree with you.

BH di create selepas Queen meletup sekejap dengan album Sheer Heart Attack. Label diorang masatu, EMI Record give them complete creative freedom.

Freddie tak lepaskan peluang and went crazy on his next creation. which is Bohemian Rhapsody.

The mind set behind this masterpiece is how far can you go before a song will sound totally ridiculous or the limit of technology stop you.

However, BH took a few more years before the song considered a legend by public. Sebab, tahun 70-an, ialah era emas untuk genre rock. Masatu banyak gila Legendary rock band macam Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stone, Pink Floyd, Eagles, The Who (the list can go on and on)

Okay back to the main point, kenapa BH is th greatest song ever. For starter, this song is 6 minutes song. Pada masa tu, or even masa sekarang, radio consider lagu 6 minit ni sangat la panjang.

Pada masa tu, radio willing utk putarkan lagu berdurasi 3-4 minit je (normal song duration) Kau kena faham, dulu, mana ada Spotify, Joox, YouTube, atau streaming services mcm sekarang.

The only way you want to expose your new song is either play it live or radio yang mainkan.

Tapi Queen berani umtuk buat lagu panjang. Mmg la ada lagu yang panjang macam & complicated mcm BH, tapi xde satu pn lagu that has same commercial level as BH.

Dalam bahasa mudahnya, lagu panjang ni, biasanya tak ramai org yg layan. Lainla kalau dia die hard fan band tersebut

Even @eltonofficial pun cakap lagu ni terlalu pelik dan panjang untuk radio

Secondly, BH is the type of song that never been heard before. Struktur lagu ni sangat pelik dan melawan arus. Lagu ni terdiri dari 5 blok musik yang berbeza, iaitu Acapella, Ballad, Opera, Rock dan Coda.

1.  A capella (0.00-1.00)

2. Ballad (1.00-3.08)

3. Opera (3.08 - 4.11)

4. Rock (4.11 - 4.59)

Setiap satu section tu, main tempo, moods, key, dan style yang berbeza. Memerlukan choral & vocal teknik yg tinggi. Seolah olah, diorang main 5 genre dalam satu lagu yg sama. This is mesmerizing for me. Leaving the lyrics aside, it is musically so much richer than other pop song.

The next reason is, Bohemian Rhapsody is a song without a chorus. Lagu takda chorus ni agak rare wei. Sbb part chorus tu yg best sebenarnya. Contohnya kau dengar Aiman Banna g ceramah, tapi dia tak cerita pasal kawin awal and tak cerita macam mana dia jumpa isteri dia. Pelik kan?

As well as being a huge commercial success, technically, Bohemian Rhapsody was being crafted with a lot of effort, energy and time. Especially in the era of manual production. Untuk keluarkan satu bunyi, band member kena main sendiri. Takda ngelat2.

and tak boleh generated guna software dan loop2 yang senang di download dari alam maya.

For the 6 minutes record, 70 hours of recording needed. Itu tak termasuk dengan hours and hours of failure attempt.

Aku bagi contoh, the opera part, diorang ambil masa selama dua minggu untuk settlekan. Dua minggu kawan2. Dua minggu punya usaha compress jadi section lagu yang mana durationnya 1 minit . Cuba dengar part opera dibawah.

Kalau boleh, dengar guna earphone, baru korang dapat appreciate mcm mana uniknya sound opera part ni. Serious sedap kau takkan menyesal

Susah nak percaya hanya 3 org yg nyanyi section ni. Because richness of their sound. 3 orang, yang tiada basic opera. mindblowing bagi aku. Sbb tu bila diorang main BH live, part opera ni, diorang skip, atau just main audio sahaja. because it is almost impossible to play it live

At that time, BH is considered as the most expensive sing ever being produced, because a lot of time and effort needed.

Walaupun lagunya lagu paling mahal ,tapi videoclip official, kos nya hanyalah 6500 USD dan disiapkan dalam masa 4 jam

Part piano dalam BH, dicipta oleh sendiri oleh Freddy, walaupun dia consider dia bukan lah pianist yang perfect. Brian May(guitaris Queen) cakap, Freddie tak selesa main piano masa live sbb dia rasa dia x power, lepas main beberapa show, Freddie suruh org lain yang mainkan piano.

Sedikit trivia, piano dalam BH ialah piano yg sama @PaulMcCartney use to created Hey Jude.

Berkenaan lirik pula, banyak org cuba untuk rungkai apa maksud sebenar lirik lagu ni. A quick answer is no one have a clue. Ada yang cakap lagu ni tentang confession anak kepada ibunya lepas dia bunuh orang.

Ada juga yang cakap lagu ni pasal spiritual redemption of Freddie.

dan ada juga yang cakap lagu ni reference kepada Freddie's sexual orientation.

Lagu ni masih releven walaupun dah berusia 40 tahun.

Sama mcm lagu P Ramlee. Usianya 40 50 tahun masih lagi segar dan malar hijau. Mungkin sebab lagu dulu ada jiwa, instilled by its creator.

Alang alang Korang dah terbiasa dengan Queen sekarang, aku suggest dngr album ke-3 diorang, Sheer Heart Attack, my fav song dlm album tu - Stone Cold Crazy. Tapi kalau rajin, dengar je semua. Sbb semua dlm album tu pun best.

Album Queen II pun best, Ogre Battle, Fairy Feller's Master Stroke, Nevermore, Seven Sea's of Rhye, and March of the Black Queen is among of their coolest tune.

Queen probably made more money after Bohemian Rhapsody in album Night at the Opera, certainly they became famous. But they made better music before.Sheer Heart Attack and Queen II is the example.

There was nothing like Bohemian Rhapsody before. It changed what people expected of music, Queen, records, videos, and producers. Truly a masterpiece.
