Y'all, there was a dude who couldn't get his own webcomic off the ground back in the first big bloom of the scene. Instead of thinking "Maybe my work isn't up to snuff" like a normal person, he decided every pro webcomic artist was just LYING about making money.

He would post massive, multi-paragraph blog rants about how all supposed pro webcartoonists actually came from "old money New England families" (I will never forget that phrase) that secretly supported them, and only pretended to be successful for internet popularity points.
But the kicker: he'd decided they were all faking that popularity, too! He was OBSESSED with the idea they spent all day registering fake Twitter accounts and FOLLOWING THEMSELVES. His "proof" was how "similar" all the accounts sounded, or that they only followed webcomic ppl.
And he had a massive hateboner for anyone who drank alcohol??? he would begin his specific ravings against specific cartoonists with shit like "So-and-so, who has been SEEN at CONS holding BOTTLES OF BEER IN-HAND...", like they'd been caught eating a fucking baby or something.
(Oh, and he hated cons. Said they were ego-stroke parties for fake-popular webcartoonists looking to lounge at the bar and get their butts kissed. He recommended never going.)
I should note here that, back in the day? This dude was NOT the only one who claimed webcomics never made money, and anyone who claimed otherwise was lying/exaggerating. He was just the KOOKIEST. Built a towering conspiracy out of it all, to relieve the shame of his own failure.
Needless to say, with the advent of Patreon, Kickstarter, book deals with mainstream publishers, etc., and other utterly transparent proof that other people can and do make money where he couldn't, he's gone silent. His blog hasn't updated since 2009.
