This is power dynamic I write about in Good & Mad. @Ocasio2018’s civic participation gets framed as problematic, eruptive. But 5 white guys come for Pelosi from right & it’s just a tactical move. Women’s raised voices are problematic, men’s are comprehensibly professional.
More than comprehensibly professional: some people are granted political validity at the outset. Others are understood as chaotic, divisive, suspect and disruptive to legitimate politics.
