When Tucker Carlson described a protest outside his house as an attempted home invasion that should have given everyone pause.

We know he has repeatedly referred to the "migrant caravan" as an invasion.

The choice of language alone indicated hyperbole.

He said this yesterday.

"This is a recurring theme on the left: Don’t believe your own eyes. Listen to .. [them], they know best."

He was talking about the "migrant caravan," but of course that's exactly what he's asking people to do with the little incident outside his house.
I hate that I am still talking about this, and that it is even still part of the news cycle, but yesterday the president repeated Tucker Carlson's statements about his damaged door, which are not just unproven, I would say are almost certainly false.

Photos show the door is not damaged. The police report refers to property damage solely in the context of the anarchist symbol on the driveway. There are few things in the world that are provable w/ absolute certainty, but this is provable to a very high evidentiary standard.
The president's comments come of course in the wake of the White House issuing a doctored video of a staffer forcibly taking a microphone from @Acosta. A protest outside Tucker Carlson's house is not of national significance, whereas what happened to Jim Acosta so clearly is.
It's just the president repeating what is demonstrably false about a small thing that became a big thing matters. (Not to mention he makes some super problematic comments about the anti-fascist movement). dailycaller.com/2018/11/14/tru…
What is even more concerning is that a large percentage of people will not believe their own eyes & accept that as truth. Which ultimately really doesn't matter about a door, but does matter when we think about poor people walking towards the southern border.
We see the capacity for lies, we see how easy it is for people to believe what is readily disprovable & then we also have to grapple with how much harder it is to have an intelligent conversation about something more meaningful and layered than a damaged door.
