Carlsen’s consistent level of play in rapid chess is phenomenal. We all play worse as we play faster and faster, but his ratio may be the smallest ever, perhaps only a 15% drop off. Huge advantage in this format.
Congratulations to @MagnusCarlsen, World Champion once more! Valiant fight from Caruana pushed Magnus to show his best, and, unfortunately for Caruana, today he did!
Plus, I will be in Oslo next week and I'm glad everywhere there will be in a good mood!

Trump's foreign policy is almost the same Obama's but with a much worse PR department & with a critical press. It's saying "Go to Hell!" and hoping Hell doesn't reach you before you leave office.
I think Obama sincerely believed the US retreat would lead to peace. Many of us said he was wrong and he was. Trump is much worse because we know the results already. The slaughter & chaos are here, the thugs and dictators are advancing.
Trump's betrayals are for his interests alone. He aligns the US with authoritarians because it suits him. He spreads the virus of illiberalism, which is more contagious & deadly than right or left ideology.

I'm sure he'll get even braver when he's gone completely. The Republican office-holders who have failed to stand up to Trump are profiles in cowardice.
It reminds me of all the memoirs talking about getting tough on Putin written by politicians who appeased him & courted him when they were in power.
If you want credit for a "better late than never" awakening, start by admitting your failure, not whitewashing it. Many Republicans were afraid of being primaried by Trumpists so they didn't act. Power over principle.

1) Dice Placement (Kingsburg). You roll 3 dice, and only can place them on locations equal to a sum of the dice. Combine dice to reach higher locations. Locations are exclusive, so you can block other players from placing there.
2) Friendly Auctions (Evo/Stockpile). All players bid on a number of assets equal to the player count. When someone is outbid, they immediately bid on something else. Ends when everyone bids on something differently, last player usually gets his choice for free.

#Chess is a zero-sum game: if a move is advantageous to one player it is disadvantageous to the other. It's also a perfect information game: all positions for each player are equally visible. So it wasn't long before people tried to get a computer to master it.
In #mathematics terms chess is combinatorial: each move generates a large set of branching possibilities for further moves, bounded by poor moves on the “bottom” and good moves on the “top". This approach provides the foundation for computer chess programmes.

1/ So my opening is okay, but my middle game sucks (or maybe my opening sucks too. WHO KNOWS? not me). Where would I theoretically go from here? I'm playing white.

This game is already over and it was a massacre. #Chess
My opponent, it should be said, is extremely aggressive. He also has NO issue taking my white square bishop w/ his knight.
I think what happened w/ this game is he ended up driving my white square bishop back w/ a pawn, then pinning that same bishop & my knight w/ another dumb pawn (or maybe the same one who knows this is probably why I am bad at chess).
