Living In a Haunted House: My experience
So at the time our family moved into this house I was pretty young maybe about 7? It had to be the second place we moved into at the time and since we didn’t like moving around too many times we hoped to stay here for awhile. That wasn’t the case.
The house was pretty old, built in the 60s and definitely not in the best shape. I shared a room with my sister, and my brother, being a baby at the time slept in his nursery. For the first month, things were normal everyone was focused on unpacking.
Gradually, the “normal” feeling began to go away. I heard my parents whisper about seeing certain figures around the house but as soon as I entered the room they’d stop talking. I was young and they didn’t want to scare me but I had realized some things of my own.
I always liked rocking my brother to sleep while he was in his crib and one day while I was walking to his nursery I saw his crib rocking all on its own but when I entered the room it stopped.
But that’s not it. I would hear singing coming from his room while everyone was in the living room. It sounded like an older woman and sometimes that would be accompanied with rocking.
I didn’t know quite what to think but I did find it scary. It wasn’t until strange things started happening in my own room that I decided it was time to tell my parents. My sister kept telling me that I was sleep talking and some of the things she reported me saying were odd.
She said I had mentioned some things about meeting with someone and them not being there but remember, I WAS 7! I had no plans of meeting anyone!! But this is were it gets even creepier.. she said when I would sleep talk, I did it in a low-angry voice.
Hearing this made me terrified and we finally told our parents about everything weird we encountered and that’s when they finally came clean about what they had seen. At night my mom would see shadows hover over her and they’d push on her chest.
The guitar that they kept in they’d room would strum all by itself. After talking about these things aloud the house wouldn’t heat anymore. Like it would only be cold.. No matter what we did, be it lighting the fireplace or turning on the heater it’d always freeze.
It seemed maybe we upset whatever was in the house because things just got worse from there. We decided to get a dog and the very next day a knife fell from our roof and nearly stabbed it. NONE OF US PUT A KNIFE ON THE ROOF, so why was it there????
Needless to say we moved out very soon after that. We nicknamed the house “The Icebox” because of how cold it was. The house still stands today and is constant for rent because everyone who moves in, ALWAYS ends up moving out.
