Super Attorney Michael Avenatti just cost his client, Stormy Daniels, nearly $300k.

Daniels ordered to pay $293,000 toward Trump’s legal fees after the dismissal of Avenatti’s ill-conceived defamation suit.
Since I enjoy debunking Avenatti’s bullsh**, let’s go through his rather predictable effort to reframe having given his client terrible, expensive advice.

First: Daniels was ordered to pay 75% of the attorney fees sought by Trump’s attys

They asked for $380k. They got $290k.
The other $380k sought by Trump’s attorneys was punitive sanctions for the case being frivolous.

The case was indeed frivolous practically speaking but not to the extent sanctions are designed to punish.

So, Trump’s attys got what they likely expected.
Avenatti, naturally, can’t admit that his stunt to keep himself on TV just blew up at his client’s expense, so he’s already on to the next over-promise:

Stormy is gonna win even more in the other case!
Among the rubs there:

1) That case is likely to be dismissed

2) It seems unlikely Daniels would be awarded fees for a case merely made moot by time and publicity

...and if Daniels prevails and is awarded fees...
...Avenatti’s big mouth could backfire and cost Daniels again.

After getting called out for launching an unauthorized GoFundMe using Stormy’s name, Avenatti took to Twitter to insist that he hasn’t been charging Daniels for his hyper-inflated fees.
Kinda hard to tell the court your client is entitled to fees you posted on Twitter weren’t actually billed.

By the time this is over, it may well work out that Avenatti got famous and Daniels got the bills.
Last but not least, the $1.5 million Avenatti is claiming Daniels could “win” actually represents his supposed legal fees incurred working on the case.

The only way she’d get a dime of that is if Avenatti falsified his fees and cut her in for a piece - which would be fraud.
Note: the last two of those were a combo of not legally accurate and poorly put.

More accurate: Avenatti appears to be promising to let Daniels pocket an award for legal fees in an unrelated case in the future.

Bookmark that one. Avenatti’s promises tend to end in lawsuits.
