About two years ago now I was what you would call a "manarchist". I was an antifeminist, MRA, who held alot of racist, sexist, and internalized homophobic views, as well as transphobes views. My labeling as anarchist communist didn't matter. Truthfully, I wasn't much more than(1)
a "national anarchist" or other fascist adjacent groups. When I had started hanging around with new people, people from more marginalized identities, I realized my opinions not only pushed them away, it revolted them, it hurt them. I was hurting people. I was pushing away my (2)
then girlfriend. I began questioning my views, and I read a book that really shattered my now thin veil of reality. That book was about the feminist women in Rojava fighting for a better world for themselves and everybody around them. For a social revolution. I had alot of (3)
apologizing to do for my former behavior, and a long process of making amends and improving myself. I eventually made it here, I hope a better person than I was. Someone with empathy who looks out for what they say, criticizes things that are wrong with the way they think.(4)
I openly embrace my bisexuality, my Anti-Racism, my Anti-fascism, and my radicality. I also try to be an ally and accomplice, and make myself as open to help others as they are comfortable is possible. But the process of growth is thanks to the people who became my closest (5)
friends, and who helped me grow. As much as militant Anti-fascism is important, my own experience taught me not everyone is lost. And while it is not our duty to try and win someone over while they want to kill us, there are some ways to change people's minds. Or at least try (6)
to. Seeing people like @realjoshbates1 does give me hope in a way. Not every person WILL become a radical like I did. But I can safely argue that not being a Nazi is probably better than being one. Idk what the big takeaway is, but, let's try and help people out if we are in (7)
a safe position to do so, or if we accept the risks in doing so. Especially if you're someone who used to be in those movements or currents. (8)
