Interesting question in the title. Let's read at least the first paragraph before we jump to conclusions.
hahahahaha come on!
"Some say that it was the dangerous working conditions the owners provided, while others point to nobody stopping the owners from providing dangerous working conditions or people wanting shirts. Who can say?"
"Since they couldn't convict everyone who had ever purchased an inexpensive garment, should the government have tried to convict anyone?"
i can't believe that as 2018 comes to an end someone managed to get me insane with anger about the triangle shirtwaist factory fire
The factory owners getting acquitted by successfully arguing that the survivors were coached in their testimony when 147 people literally died is what we call "proof of concept" for capitalism.
*notices that i am currently wearing a shirt* my god what have i done
*am no longer wearing a shirt, and getting redder*
of course the flaw in this theory is that the smithsonian author blames "insufficient regulation" as a potential cause of the fire
really looking forward to hearing about how building railroads was a "welcome change of pace" for field slaves
