1/ This week, we reported with @EmilySchwing that for years, the Jesuits sent priests accused of sexual abuse to retire on @GonzagaU’s campus.

@Gonzaga_Prez responded. But he didn’t really answer much. revealnews.org/blog/gonzaga-u…
2/ For one thing: In @Gonzaga_Prez ’s statement yesterday, he appears to contradict himself about when, exactly, he learned that the university was hosting accused priests on its campus.
3/ We tried to talk to him on record several times over the course of several months while reporting this story. He denied each request.

We asked him again after our story came out. He turned us down then, too.
4/ So!

Since he won’t answer our questions face-to-face, we figured we’d just ask them here. Beginning with this one:

When did @Gonzaga_Prez first learn about so-called “safety plans,” designed to keep accused priests away from students?
5/ Were those plans shared with anyone working for @GonzagaU? If so, when? Who saw them?
6/ In our reporting, we showed that Father Frank Case recommended James Poole, who had at least 19 reports of sexual abuse against him, according to @Fairbanks_Dioce.

Case endorsed Poole for a hospital chaplain job. revealnews.org/article/these-…
7/ Case, who was in charge of the Oregon Province at the time, says he was not aware of the allegations against Poole. We want to know ...

Is Case still vice president at @GonzagaU?

Is he still team chaplain for @ZagMBB?
8/ At least some of the accused priests were already living at Cardinal Bea House while Father Case was provincial.

When did Father Case learn that accused Jesuits were living on @GonzagaU’s campus?
9/ Did Father Case ever inform anyone at @GonzagaU about the priests living there? Should he have?
10/ Does @Gonzaga_Prez regret not informing the #Gonzaga community of the accused priests’ presence?
11/ Did the university provide services like internet access or tech support to the Cardinal Bea House? And if so, did they monitor this use?
12/ There’s a separate issue here, too. Following our reporting, @jesuitswest restricted access to the Jesuit archives at @GonzagaU.

That’s despite their recent calls for transparency around this issue: jesuitswest.org/Assets/Publica…
13/ And while we're at it, another question for @jesuitswest: Is it true that the Jesuits never informed @GonzagaU or senior university officials about the priests at Bea House?
14/ We’ve already received many tips and leads for potential follow-up stories.

If you have information about sexual abuse or accused Jesuits in the Northwest, we would love to hear from you: tips@revealnews.org
15/ We’re going to keep asking these questions. The best way to keep up with our reporting is by subscribing to our newsletter: revealnews.org/newsletter
