In January Lambda School will have over 1,000 concurrent students.

And the student experience and student quality are remarkably more strong than they were same time last year, when we had 129.
We’re going to start holding growth numbers a little closer to the chest, but I figure we could publicly celebrate that one.
We’re also seeing a Harvard-like application volume. Even with a full team interviewing full-time all day long it’s hard to keep up.

Know this, applicants: the most important trait for success in Lambda School is grit.

Take as much initiative as you possibly can.

New experiment from Lambda School, coming 2019!

* Housing in downtown Salt Lake City for 1 yr

* $500/month food/living stipend for 1 yr

* 30 week full-time Lambda School course + career coaching

Cost: $0 until hired & making $50k+, then 17% of salary for 3 yrs, capped at $40k
Will let you know when applications for this open up.

We're forever moving to the point where anyone talented and hungry can "just show up" and we can help them get the rest of the way, all at no financial risk to the student
To be clear:

Rent is covered by Lambda. On top of Lambda covering rent we also give you $500/month to spend on food etc. The instruction and coaching is provided at no upfront cost.

All I really want in life is someone with an extraordinarily hot company to send all the VCs a deck full of cumulative graphs just to troll
You need to be like a Bird or Lime level of hot though. Every VC in the valley knows you’ll be funded by a top VC, then just cumulative graph everyone, and see who is willing to look past that and who questions your judgment from a fundamental level.

Would be interesting.
Also, I recognize it’s entirely likely that I am the only one entertained by my own thought experiments

So I realized last night that really I have to catalogue all these things in a way more organized fashion. I’m doing that now, and I’m seeing a lot of things that I hadn’t realized were themes or didn’t realize how frequently I heard something.
LIke, I’ve had to make a tab in this spreadsheet to contain all the “well you’re trans you WOULD say that” tweets. My avi typically only shows half my face and apparently that combined with short hair reads as “trans” to people who are bigots.
What’s particularly interesting about that is it’s gotten progressively more frequent through the year. And I don’t tweet any more support than I did this time last year so it’s not them looking past my feed and seeing a thread about trans stuff. It’s an organic change.

1. Tyler Turner: Saw guy with gun, pulled fire alarm, kids ran, heard 3 shots, then 4 more shots, one girl had slight injury to her knee;
2. Mehan _____ was in class, heard fire alarm, teachers told them not to run off, kids heard shots, and took off... more shots
Tyler: Said his friend Zach saw kid "wearing something" and then pulled fire alarm, kids ran to car wash across street.

ABC news at 9:07AM was told to stop talking to kids even though parents were standing there with Tyler giving permission to talk to news
Tyler: Asked if it was definitely a shotgun, stated he wasn't sure, but has no reason to think it was anything other than that. Hasn't heard much since he left the school. 9:07

3.6 million people have signed up for coverage through @HealthCareGov, up substantially over the 2.9 million at the same time last year. But it’s pretty apparent that signups will end up lower with the enrollment period being half as long.

The idea of a shorter ACA open enrollment period originated with the Obama administration, but the Trump administration implemented it with a 90% reduction in outreach funding and a 41% reduction in navigator grants.
There have been two theories about how a shorter open enrollment period would alter the individual insurance market.
