Demands for purity are often strong disincentives to action, and just as often that's exactly the intention. You can't actually get anything done without getting your feet dirty. Demanding you never, ever dirty your feet is a good way to ensure you never get anything done.
In fact, this is a perfect way to avoid having to come up with any real world solutions, policies, hard thinking, weighing of options, plans, nothing. You can just sit in the fucking corner and demand purity of others, with a look of moral superiority on your face.
And from that corner you can cast aspersions on anyone who was or is concerned enough - and invested enough - to actually think in terms of the real world, not the imagined pure world you seem to live in. They're all idiots or corrupt and you're better than all of them.
Just don't forget - when challenged - to call your stance one for "principles". Because to you principles don't exist to drive real world action, they exist for you and your buddies to beat lesser humans over the head with. It's not sanctimonious at all, it's "principled".
Oh yeah, and just in case, that kinda sanctimoniousness isn't activism. Activism has "act" right there within it.
