And Mary is the new ark of the covenant.
Our faith is so cool.
Elizabeth asks “who am I that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” (Luke 1:43) when the new ark (Mary, carrying the child Jesus in her womb) comes to her.
When the ark comes to David, he asks, “How can the ark of the Lord come to me?” (2 Samuel 6:9)
David then leaps and dances before the ark “with joy” (2 Samuel 6:15).
John the Baptist leaped in his mother’s womb “for joy” (Luke 1:44).
YALL.
Mary as Mother of God:
The ark of the covenant contained manna, Aaron’s (the high priest) rod, and 10 commandments
Jesus is the Bread of Life, the ultimate high priest, and the fulfillment of the law
The ark of the covenant was made from acacia wood, which was extremely pure where no insects or other harm could get through it. It was covered in pure gold on top of this.
If the ark had to be this pure, how much more the new ark, carrying God Himself?
No one was allowed to touch the ark for any reason. Remember when Uzzah tried to and was struck dead? (2 Samuel 6:7)?
Again, how much more would the new ark be protected from the impure touch of man?
The ark of the convent hasn’t been found to this day. Neither has Mary’s body.
BUT we know where it is. 😉
“God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant could be seen in the temple.” (Revelation 11:19)
