The Unforced Errors Administration: It is one unnecessary fuck up after another, due to incompetency or stupidity or a false model of how the world works IRL.

Each Cabinet member less worthy of the job than the next. An astounding failure at every level, and no end in sight.

Regarding, this: some thoughts. There are many issues here - its a complex, nuanced topic and often gets bogged down in the minutia, but here goes nothing:
Traders bought difficult to value, thinly traded, tough to mark assets - that allowed banks room to mess around (commit fraud). It looked great pre-crisis, when marks were accurate enough while the underlying assets were booming.

These Marks ranged from “hopeful” to “delusional” . . .

A Trump supporter friend on Bond Desk at a major firm is getting skittish "despite DJT's support for Israel" over his giving "aid + comfort to anti-semites/Nazis.

"I am unnerved by the anecdotal correlation on the desk of those who voted for POTUS + not getting flu vaccines"
I am curious if this is part of a purple wave -- resistance to norms, violations of social contracts, disregard for reality is working against that college educated higher earner cohort that helped put Trump over the top in 2016.

Apparently some supporters who have had enough.
While I am surprised it took this long, it appears the shooting of a Temple in Pittsburg was a big wake up call for many. Add to that the weirdly tone deaf )(narcissistic?) response, and that could have been the last straw...

Don’t get distracted by the latest Trump nonsense.

That was the key takeaway from my MIB interview with Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert. After the first GOP debate in 2015, he recognized Trump’s style of communication as “uniquely effective.”
In real time, publicly in print – he forecast Trump would win GOP nomination + the general election. People laughed at him.

Adams observes Trump is a communication wizard, who understands mass media better than every politician and most people in the media.
Trump’s latest pronouncement is an example of what Adams meant.

This morning, Axios reported President Trump was signing an executive order. In it, he will end Birthright – the guarantee in the 14th Amendment that every person born on US soil is automatically a U.S. citizen.

1. The greatest danger in any work that asks you to think systemically about the future is getting locked into the worldview that made sense to you when you first began, that you built your successful career on.

This "sunk-cost expertise" can easily become a set of shackles.
2. It is very common, when you're highly rewarded for a given set of working insights, to commit more to those insights as your career unfolds, to begin even to defend those insights from challenging new perspectives (ones you fear might devalue your intellectual stock in trade).
3. We all have limited time and energy. Building up an insightful mental model of how the world works takes a lot of both. The pay off is in the profit from one's expertise.

this creates a sunk cost investment that we're inclined to psychologically over-value and defend.
