Just a thought /Thread: In May 2017, Deripaska offered to cooperate with congressional committees investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election, but lawmakers were "unwilling to accept his conditions."

Which lawmakers? Republicans?

Because now we know this:

Between 2014 and 2016, the FBI and the Justice Department unsuccessfully tried to turn Deripaska into an informant.
nytimes.com/2018/09/01/us/…
"The attempt to flip Deripaska was part of a broader, clandestine American effort to gauge the possibility of gaining cooperation from roughly a half-dozen of Russia’s richest men, nearly ALL of whom, like Deripaska, DEPEND on Putin to MAINTAIN their WEALTH."
Only six oligarchs need to be flipped and their wealth will no longer be dependent on Putin?

And Putin and the Kremlin are now at the center of a Justice Department investigation led by the 2nd longest serving Director of the FBI?

Yeah. Flipp'n ain't out of the question.
Per Bloomberg, it was Deripaska doing all the chasing:

"For two decades, Deripaska pursued one of the few things he couldn’t buy—American acceptance—with all the tenacity you’d expect from a man who built what was once the world’s 9th fortune."

And yes, this ⬇️ did happen five days ago:

I was surprised by this:

"Half of EN+’s restructured board will be comprised of U.S. or U.K. nationals & Rusal’s current board chairman WILL STEP DOWN. Deripaska also won’t be allowed to receive cash either in return for shares he relinquishes or from future dividends..."
But the ranking Democrat lawmakers didn't freak out all that much. Yes, constant monitoring, but that would have been expected and Deripaska knew that.
The same day sanctions were lifted on Rusal, NEW sanctions were put on 15 Russian military intel operatives over the US election meddling, as well as the attempted assassination of a former double agent in the UK.

One former intel officer was accused of working for Deripaska.
This sort of smells deal-ish.

I wonder who the other 5 oligarchs would be. 🤔 Firtash? Torshin?

Blavatnik is a mos def. He got a lot to lose with that joint UK-US citizenship thing going on.
I just hope, besides bringing us back a White House that embraces democracy and our commitments to our allies, a deal would include Levinson. 🙏🏼🙏🏽
