If you're a game dev, and you have any choice in the matter, please don't force the player to start a playthrough before being able to access the settings menus. This is an awful practice in general, for streamers, and of course for accessibility.
Doing this also just feels like you're talking down to the player, saying "I know what is best for you" No, you -don't-. You cannot predict every need on a single setting. I might need different controls, the brightness may be off, I may need to switch to windowed mode, etc etc.
This mini-thread went places. Maybe you don't care about accessibility for this (you really should, check replies from others) but I can tell you every streamer opens up your game before streaming to adjust settings. lock that behind a cold open and the initial reaction is gone.
