"Chemical Engineering overall bagus ke tidak?"

It's kinda difficult to answer this question. Sebab the answer is yes and no. 🤦🏻‍♂️
Kalau nak jawab soalan ni, kena kena faham apa sebenarnya yang Chemical Engineer buat.

Chemical Engineer, or sometimes interchangeably known as Process Engineer, deal dengan process.
Tak kisah la process apa, lagi-lagi dalam manufacturing.

Meaning, converting raw materials into something that is useful to the consumer.

Tugas engineer ni bukan sekadar memproseskan sesuatu bahan mentah semata-mata. It involves to maximise process efficiency.
i.e. figuring out how to maximize production, reducing waste, reducing loss, with minimum cost, and yet, sustainable.

I would say this is a core task for chemical/process engineer. Memang korang tak boleh lari.
Yes, generasi terdahulu dah develop a method to process something. But it's an engineer's job to improve the current process/technology even further.

It could be either, innovating the current technology or creating new technology or a mix of both

Tak mudah, bukan?
You will deal with either (but not ,limited to):

- designing a plant or an equipment (#PlantDesign, feasibility study etc)
- process optimisation (#ProcessControl) - includes waste recovery, energy efficiency etc
- plant operation & management
- emission/environmental control,
- #ProcessSafety
- Plant Economic
- Plant troubleshooting
- Product technical information for sales & marketing
So, how about peluang pekerjaan? Terjamin atau tidak?

Yes and no.

I would say, bergantung pada sektor.
Generally, kita sedia maklum, dengan pertambahan populasi penduduk dunia, memang tak boleh lari, everything kena produce at an industrial scale.

So, industri memang akan ada. But bergantung pada demand consumer.
Sebagai contoh, food industry will always be in need. Sebab food is the basic needs of human being. So this industry will always be there.
Contoh sebaliknya, oil and gas. I would say, this is a risky sector. Sebab dia bergantung pada harga minyak dunia.

Apart from that, people are exploring into a renewable energy alternative (e.g. solar industry).
Energy sector is something that is worth to be explored. Because we need it in our everyday life kan.
Tapi, kalau nak kata engineering is high in demand, takde la jugak. Sebab ada bidang lain yang lagi high in demand.
Contohnya, IT-related matters. because everyone is going a digitisation era. Expected high demand for IT people, for software development, data storage and analysis, cloud computing etc. Not to mention, cyber security as well.
Bila bercakap dengan employment rate ni, my personal view is that, semua bidang tak lari banyak beza pun.

I mean, at the end of the day, ia bergantung pada individu juga.
Contoh, you could be enrolling in a course that secure a job in the future, tapi kalau you sendiri yang tak perform time study, or tak perform time interview or tak perform time kerja, tak guna juga.
And I would say, choose a course that you think you can do. Minat atau tidak, itu depends. If you can excel well dalam course tu, who know, you might fall in love with it. Kan?
