Most parenting advice is from people whose parents left them out in the snow for 2 months as a toddler forcing them to kill bunnies to survive and then they grew up and wrote books on how it’s abuse if your kid gets chilly sometimes.
If you look up debates over “Cry It Out” sleep-training you find parents who say letting your baby cry for 10 minutes is abuse because Romanian orphans have emotional problems after not being touched for years. The cumulative effect of this stress on new parents is insane.
Twin studies consistently show that as long as you don’t abuse/neglect your children there’s a huge range of acceptable parenting styles and decisions. Honestly I think more damage is done by parents freaking out about this stuff. Just enjoy your kids and don’t break them.
Honestly people have too few children which makes them freak out about the one or two they do have. Ideally you should have so many kids that you give up being perfect. Get enough and you can start a militia or underthrow the government of a small town. Have fun.
