Going through Weekly Standard archives agitating for the Libya war with @JordanSchachtel.

It was crazy—there must’ve been 100 posts pushing fanatically for that disastrous intervention.

None cautioned against it, warned of possible consequences, or did anything but cheerlead.
We gotta do Egypt and the Arab Spring next. That’ll be a doozy and a half.
Reading through the archives... it’s pretty amazing to think that—in the midst of Islamist ascendancy all over the Middle East in 2011—the dangers of toppling Qaddafi and releasing this noxious movement in Libya was not even mentioned!
I guess ideology and the juvenile excitement of kicking some ass vicariously through the US military were temptations too hard to resist. When you’re such an ideological fanatic, it doesn’t occur to you to adjust your frame.
@AndrewCMcCarthy made excellent, sober & compelling arguments that detailed the dangers of Libya and put them in context of what was happening in the region. I don’t see any engagement with his arguments at TWS.

For me Libya was a final wake-up moment: these people never learn.
An addendum: once the Benghazi attack happened, and the Obama administration orchestrated a shameful cover-up, there was no better media outlet than The Weekly Standard when it came to digging into the events & the scandal.
