Is there a Right Time to Build a House?

In this part of the world, people live under subtle pressure to own at least a building they can call their home. It is often said that a man who has not built his own house is a poor man.

This statement is nothing but a ruse because for everyone, there is a right time and season to commit to building a house. There is absolutely nothing wrong in building a house but it’s a misconstrued measure of success in our clime.
How early you build your house is not as important as the quality of life you are able to maintain afterwards.

“Don’t build your house and establish a home until your fields are ready, and you are sure that you can earn a living.” Proverbs 24:27 (GNT)
There is a proper order to succeed in life. A man’s goals in order, should be to identify his life’s work, become proficient at it and establish himself in it before investing in building a house which in most cases consume rather than produce income.
Getting this order of decisions wrong in life has led many to financial ruin. The decision to build a house becomes a bad financial decision when it violates the divine process laid down by God.
Don’t build your house until your fields (those things that bring in consistent financial increase into your life) are fully developed, and you are sure that you can earn and maintain a sufficient and sustainable lifestyle for your family.
A lot of people are not patient with themselves, they want to show off a house before they have earned it; they want to drive a nice car before they even have any financial assets.
They lack the self-discipline and humility to keep things in proper order; they want to show off now. Many create hardship for their families, and some never recover, by getting these two stages of life out of order.
The practical wisdom is to become established at your profession, trade or business before committing to a house. Diligently secure and master the art of multiplying your income before committing to expensive projects.
Many use their life savings to build a house and there after wallow in perpetual financial struggles and hardship. Life as we know it operates on principles and anyone who violates these principles suffer devastating consequences.
Income generation and multiplication should be far more important to you than income consumption. When you have developed and mastered the art of retaining and multiplying your earnings, then you can build your house.
I wish you a fruitful weekend.
