***UPDATE***

I’ve spoken to Leigh Day this afternoon and they have confirmed that the Government have lodged an application to appeal to the Supreme Court. This is not an automatic right/guarantee that the appeal will be granted.
The Supreme Court will read through the Governments application in conjunction with the Court of Appeal ruling & decide if the application to appeal is successful. Once I know what grounds/points of law have been appealed I’ll update accordingly.
This obviously means a further delay to our cases. It’s highly unlikely that the ET will unstay our cases until the final decision has been reached by the Supreme Court. It also means that the FireFighter and Judges cases will not be remitted back to the ET for remedy as yet.
This is not bad news and should not dampen spirits....if anything it’s good news as the longer this all takes, the less likely it becomes that the government will default to levelling down.
It also means that more of our protected colleagues will retire on their full terms and conditions, as they’ve been continually promised, which in turn increases any redress afforded to those challenging. As we said from the start; the longer this drags on, the better!!
We ended last year on the high of a conclusive & damning Judgement. I have every expectation that in terms of #PensionEquality we will continue in the same fashion.

Happy New Year and as always;
