This is not a big deal, it’s totally normal for any new SecDef to have his own front office staff and right-hand man. Chill folks. Want to worry? Worry that no 4-star leader has spoken publicly or given a press conf since the Syria decision last month.
Worry that several key OSD policy posts remain vacant and also hide from the public to avoid their boss’s wrath.
Worry that as you read this the president says one plan for US troops in Syria but his entire government says something different.
Worry that the new Senate Armed Services Committee has openly bragged he will not challenge the executive branch on defense policy or global threat assessments but will try to give them all they ask for.
Worry that the United States is reducing its presence and abdicating influence in soft and hard power to friends and enemies around the globe.
Worry that the blue and red waves of young Americans’ becoming politically aware and active stop at the water’s edge.
Worry that nearly every top presidential candidate for 2020 is not an internationalist.
Worry that the veterans of the ISIS War may be the first to get such negative treatment by their own government and countrymen since Vietnam
Worry about a lot of things — Putin’s info wars, China’s power, Europe’s loss of faith in America, our own fractioning and violence, the FSU football coach — but please don’t worry about the SecDef’s chief of staff.
