Sorry but they absolutely DO NOT want to be called Nazis. They're trying to stick a more "respectable" ideology over their own - latching onto debate about crime/immigration. Calling them Nazis makes it harder for them and harder for potential new supporters to join the cause
That's why the actual explicit neo-Nazi groups (of which some do exist in Australia) do their business under cover of darkness, obscure their faces when posting photos online. They know it's poison to publicly label yourself a nazi google.com.au/amp/s/amp.hera…
(This particular group has been around a while, here's some more of their handiwork - even an out and out neo Nazi group is still not willing to put their faces to their work, and do it secretly, at night, and obscure their faces in pics they post) m.huffingtonpost.com.au/2017/02/15/neo…
Many original supporters of the "patriot" movement (not all) joined because they saw it as a more palatable face for their very extreme views - cloaking overt racism in rhetoric about immigration, congestion, schools, welfare etc - they just hid it under more "regular" concerns
But if you call the saluting, SS wearing, goose-stepping idiots out as Nazis, they lose that veil. That's why there were very few instances yesterday. The main guys know that they lose the argument once they get tagged as Nazis, so they have to keep that under wraps
They grow numbers by tapping into average concerns about crime etc - if regular mums and dads know it's an extremist group, you think they're gonna join? They gotta stay "respectable". Read this from @slackbastard (who seriously knows his stuff) for more slackbastard.anarchobase.com/?p=43449
To be clear: no, these people aren't Nazis, if your definition of Nazi is "people in 1940s Germany who support Hitler". They're clearly not that

But if they support the general gist of what those Nazis WERE about...is that any better, or much different? Looks like a duck etc
I don't believe in throwing 'Nazi' around as a catch-all term for those on the right, even the far-right. It cheapens it. But when you've got dudes throwing salutes, wearing SS gear... how much clearer does it have to get? Do we need a signed form stating their allegiance?
