"Operation Figleaf 2: Electric Boogaloo" takes place on the roads of Kent this morning.

The farce, involving 79 lorries, is meant to simulate no deal Brexit congestion of 10,000.

Because a gathering of friends behaves like a stadiumful of people, right?

The punchline? "The challenge facing the government and Kent county council was evident at dawn as an argument broke out between marshals about where the trucks were supposed to go."

*79* trucks, and they still managed to fluff it.

This is a radio ad the Government has started running as part of its no deal Brexit preparations...

It directs people to a nice website with warm and fuzzy graphics...

And as soon as you go deeper, you're thrown into the opaque preparedness notices.

A few thoughts on alternatives to Brexit...
- Bring in proportional representation
- Cancel HS2 and spend the tens of £billions on improving *regional* rail and other transport links
- Turn the HOL into an entirely elected second chamber (its oversight function is useful)
- Recognise the merit of a booming economy in London and the SE. Celebrate it and nurture it. Then milk the cash cow and spread that delicious cream across the whole of the UK.
- Foster an entrepreneurial mentality that rewards a "British Dream" (parallels to the American Dream)
- End the culture of secrecy in Government, except in cases of genuine national security. Transparency and accountability at every level. Shine a bright light into the darkest corners.
- Set up a "regional sifting committee" to vet all large infrastructure projects to ensure that

Government is trying to foist the blame for any Brexit chaos in the adult social care sector off on local authorities and directors of adult social care facilities. This from the letter sent to them on 21 December last year... (Full letter at link below.)

1. Nobody ought to be surprised by the ineptitude unfolding in British politics in respect of #Brexit. Brexit really just brings it centre stage - but it has been there all along for those who care to look...

Tutti i governi Ue si stanno preparando con avvertimenti a cittadini, amministrazioni, imprese. Alcuni assumono migliaia di persone per le dogane.

1. For whatever my faults, I have always tried to give you my most honest assessment of the facts as I understand them. I am still of the view that no deal is a disaster. There's a lot of histrionics about but it's not all project fear. #Brexit thread
2. The reason many of you think that warnings are project fear is because the media has only really half understood the implications and will routinely misreport or sensationalise - and usually trivialise. And then some of it is just nasty propaganda.
3. All I can really recommend is to stop allowing yourself to be manipulated by both sides and do the legwork yourself. It isn't difficult - and unlike hacks, because you live in the real world, you have a better chance of contextualising it.

I am starting to wonder if the Tories are actually planning to use the chaos of a no deal #Brexit to declare a state of emergency suspend parliament and institute a dictatorship
This sounds paranoid but there actions are consistent with if not necessarily indicative of a plan to use #Brexit to do away with democracy itself
Vote Leave broke electoral law if the referendum was binding it would have been declared void because the referendum was advisory the electoral commission could not do this and the government is simply ignoring it showing no regard for democratic norms #Brexit

2. We have already seen a number of weak attempts from various wonks, MPs and think tanks, all of whom are missing the point
