I've been away for a couple of days, and mostly off twitter, and I have one (I think important) thing to say about the increasingly frenzied Brexit developments. 1/
A lot of the political debate, in Westminster, and on twitter, seems to have forgotten all about the existence of the EU, and the fact that Brexit is not an internal UK matter, but rather a process of negotiation with the EU. 2/
There are two choices which the UK could make which the EU cannot influence. It could choose to leave without a deal. Or it could choose unilaterally to revoke A50. But in between those two poles, the EU's position matters. A lot. 3/
We should listen more carefully to what the EU is saying. The WA is locked down. The PD is aspirational and cannot be legally binding. If the WA is agreed, new negotiations will start immediately on the future relationship. 4/
Theresa May will not get the WA changed. Jeremy Corbyn will not get the WA changed. A50 will not be extended in order to allow for substantive renegotiation. 5/
We are going to have to choose between no deal, the deal or no Brexit. The position of many (eg Labour) is going to have to shift. And the clock keeps on ticking. 6/6
