The more you try to bury it, the worst it becomes.
So accept it.
Realize it can exist within you without you having to become it.
You know... the side that you hide from the world.
The side that you only know about.
'Whoa, bro!! How did you know I have that side?'
You're not fooling me.
Every human has internal darkness.
Yes, everyone.
The intensity of the darkness may defer from one human to another.
But it still exists nevertheless.
Was a very angry kid, would get into fights, suspended for bad behavior etc.
It got so bad that my friends parents would warn them to stay away from me.
It did.
After years of carrying this darkness, I realized that I was the problem. Not the world, but me.
'So what did you do?'
I went on a journey to change.
Your boy spent time volunteering, consciously thinking positive thoughts & doing all the right things.
Went on months behaving like this.
'Awesome job man!'
Not quite.
'Why?'
Because I was failing.
My dark side was not going away. Rather, the more that I tried to kill the dark side, the stronger it grew.
'Really??'
Yes.
'So what did you do?'
I altered my approach.
'What good does that do?'
It made all of the difference.
The more that you try to stop thinking a thought, the more that you think it.
Which is why making yourself AWARE is the golden strategy.
1. You accept the good AND bad of you. Making you more confident.
2. You no longer treat dark thoughts as the enemy. But rather as an extension of you.
And you get to choose which side you want to pick.
Take time to get to know your internal world, so you have the power to respond rather than react.
Be whole once again.
Excellent.
Your future self will thank you.
