Our brains are always searching for threats to keep us safe.
But nowadays?
There aren't that many immediate threats on your life.
So what does the brain do?
Turns harmless events into threatening scenarios
Get up & get active!
Yes.
It's called the 'negativity bias.'
Let me give you a little psychology 101 lesson 🧠
'Any example bro?'
Yea.
Say you give a speech & 10 people loved it while 1 person hated it.
Your brain will often drift to the negative opinion of that 1 person.
The reason is that our primal ancestors depended on the negativity bias for survival.
Even if they were having a spectacular day, they still NEEDED to still be alert for dangers like sabertooth tigers.
Which is why our brain searches for threats.
When it cannot find any immediate threats, it will blow a harmless event out of proportion.
You must TRAIN yourself to be an optimist.
1. Learning as much as you can about the negativity bias.
2. Once you complete step 1, it will be easier to make yourself AWARE when you're drifting to negativity.
3. Once aware, CONSCIOUSLY bring your mind to the positives or the present.
View it as bicep curls for your brain.
The more you do it, the stronger you make your brain to remain present & maintain optimism.
Your hands were meant to be used to create stuff, not fiddle with your balls all day.
