Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo met today with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi.
The Secretary thanked the Crown Prince and the foreign minister for the United Arab Emirates’ strong partnership with the United States. The leaders discussed ways to expand bilateral ties, including trade and investment.
The Secretary thanked the Crown Prince and the foreign minister for the United Arab Emirates’ engagement on critical regional issues, including achieving lasting peace in Yemen. On Yemen, the leaders agreed on the need for all parties to adhere to the agreements made in Sweden,
particularly the cease-fire and redeployment of forces in Hudaydah. The leaders reiterated their support for UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths.
The Secretary emphasized the importance of standing against the Iranian regime’s destabilizing activity and ensuring the success of the alliance in advancing prosperity, security, and stability in the region.
