A landlord, in his letter to renters:

“Until the govt opens again, you are responsible for ALL of your rental amount.”

The tenants, many elderly & disabled, will be evicted on the 20th if they can’t pay up. Their federal housing support had vanished.

To be clear, I am not blaming the landlord. He has to pay his mortgage too. There are two people at fault here: Donald Trump, and Mitch McConnell.

Right now this poll is overwhelmingly blaming Democrats for the shutdown. RT and flip it. Trump and McConnell are holding the country hostage.
Alright it’s moved about 7 points. Keep it going.
And yes. I understand that this is a completely unscientific Twitter poll. But it’s from CSPAN. The right will use it and fail to share that it was a Twitter poll. You know they will.

Filing columns from hospital beds is exhausting.
Once, when I was at @PhillyDailyNews, before email was a thing, I wrote my copy long-hand from the ICU. That story, about the ICU, was later nom'd for Pulitzer, but all I remember was thinking those might be my last written words.

This is called an ambulance. It already exists. WHY IS TECH SO FUCKING DETERMINED NOT TO ADVANCE A DAMNED THING?
And because I know someone is going to claim that it isn't always an ambulance I would like to introduce you to paratransit services that already exist to transport people to & from medical appointments. Uber is repackaging shit that already exists.
Right now someone with access to a bunch of money & no fucking common sense is preparing to pitch something else that already exists. One of you is going to pitch a pharmacy vending machine & get ridiculous funding for it.

I had another life-threatening heart/lung episode today.
I'm not sure how much of it had to do with my cutting my heart meds back to once a day while appealing the increased price by my health insurance from $120 for 60 pills to $1k for 60 pills.
We had to call 9/11.
Scary.

I couldn't afford to go to the hospital--when you call 9/11 the city charges you $1,200 for the trip to nearest hospital.
They only accept cash.
The EMTs checked me out, told me to take the heart meds the way they were prescribed, established I wasn't in VFib, just SVT AFib.

So all day, instead of doing work that needs to be done, I have been trying to get my heart rate under 140, which given my lung meds increase my heart rate, has been more work: breathing exercises my PT taught me, single nostril breathing @HillaryClinton taught me (try it).

Trump's admin has made life exceedingly difficult for people like me who are fighting #cancer & dealing with extreme medical costs.

Obama said in 2009 that he hated watching his mother forced to work to pay bills as she fought for her life.

Many of us are still doing this.
Now Trump wants to make yet another critic of #ACA--the only buffer sick & #disabled Americans have until we get #UHC--head of HHS.

#AlexAzar is an actual lobbyist for #BigPharma.
And cut his legal teeth--he's a lawyer--working for #KenStarr investigating the Clintons.
Anyone who thinks sick/#disabled people are going to get a fair shake under this presidency aren't thinking clearly. And while I know we have more Russia news and
more sexual abuse claims today, this appointment impacts EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN WHO IS NOT RICH and it's barely news.
