I deleted my buzzfeed tweet because it implied that I don’t take their investigative reporting seriously. I do. I believe it. And I have tremendous respect for those reporters. It was a bad attempt at communicating that clickbait is bad for journalism and society. Bad timing. MyB
But seriously I can’t be the only good guy who thought: “god damnit it had to be buzzfeed?” Right? Like of course the bad guys won’t take this shit serious cuz it’s hard for me to take that site serious and that’s not my fault. Anyways, bad timing.
Let’s talk about Trump going down that’s what’s important now and sorry I thought of something else. I’m really not a contrarian.

Our Homeless LGBTQIA+ Warming Shelter will now be open every night until the 5th of February. It’s too cold to let these youth sleep outside. 11 people have already died and we need to do all that we can to prevent more. Contact @KatNStevens if you can volunteer!
And thank you everyone who made the past 3 nights such a success. We couldn’t have done it without you and we have gotten so much support it has been overwhelming.
But we’re not closing. Let’s keep this up and keep saving lives! I’m also available by DM if you have questions.

Sooooo this lady set up volunteers for a youth warming shelter for LGBTQIA+ youth today in Atlanta. We were able to open a warming center in a matter of hours!
11 people have frozen to death on the streets of Atlanta and we just weren’t going to take it anymore so we all got together to set up a warming shelter.
This wonderful woman coordinated the volunteers and got dozens of people to sign up in a city we just moved to in one days notice. Because of us, super hero Jerome Brooks and other amazing people, 25 queer youth will not freeze tonight.

As many of you know 11 people have frozen to death on the streets of Atlanta since December. This is unacceptable in a city that carries so much wealth. We are better than this. These next few nights the temperatures in the city will be around 20 degrees.
It will feel much colder than that with wind. This means that there is tremendous potential that there will be more deaths. Because of this crisis, a warming shelter is opening for LGBTQIA+ youth. Community organizations are coming together to save lives but they need help.
Specifically help getting volunteers to staff the shelter. We need about 5 volunteers for each shift which consists of four hours. The only requirement is that you not have a violent criminal record or previous accusations of assault or abuse.

After doing some thinking on the privacy/surveillance spectrum, here is my current perspective on design goals for self-sovereign identity (~weakly held).

0.0/ Privacy in a society is a spectrum; we have degrees of privacy.

Like most complex spectrums, the only real “solutions”—by virtue of ignoring the complexity altogether— are either end of the spectrum: total privacy or full transparency. Neither is tenable.
1/ My sense of self is singular and universal, but perspectives of self (situational identities) are multidimensional and highly contextual. Because Identity is infinitely fractal, reputation must be hyper-localized—aggregating reputation across contexts will never work

It would make for bad optics because it would mean we'd have to take our immigration laws seriously on a regular basis as part of the buy-in from those parts of the population who want immigration slowed or stopped.
It would take increased legal immigration to get business buy-in and as the sop to people who want more immigrants, on a faster track to citizenship or not.

Wishing a Happy 85th birthday to the Metro Man E.Sreedharan, the man behind two of the greatest engineering projects in modern India- Konkan Railway and Delhi Metro, pulled off under the most challenging circumstances.
While Sreedharan is widely acclaimed for the Delhi Metro, for me the Konkan Railway was a far bigger achievement. One of the most challenging project, considering the terrain involved, to me wud be Sreedharan's greatest achievement.

And to think that Sreedharan was actually bought out of retirement for Konkan Railway, his tenure had come to an end in June 1990. It was the then Railway Minister George Fernandes who appointed him as CMD of Konkan Railways, and the rest as they say is history.
