In the build up to the 2019 general elections I have #21Questions that have been nagging me and which do not let me sleep well at night. Hopefully some of you on here can provide me with some answers and help me rest easy.

1. The way some of us have gone about the 2019 elections, the only way it makes sense to me is if maybe a meeting held and I didn’t get the memo. Which is why the 1st question is, at what point did we [Nigerians] take a collective decision to lower the standard for Pres Buhari?

2. I am not going to dwell on the 2015 elections. But a lot of the people I know supported GEJ in 2011 but switched to PMB in 2015 on the basis that the former did not live up to expectations. Which makes me wonder, why have they conveniently unlooked in 2019? #21Questions

3. In the years following the return to democracy, the old among us would remember the original Baba traversed the length & breadth of the world for foreign investments & debt forgiveness, we shouted. Bubu came in & surpassed him, with insignificant results. Did we say anything?

4. I remember President Yar’Adua delayed for 2 months in appointing his Ministers and for this and other reasons, Nigerian christened him “Baba Go-Slow”. Here news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/7420327.s…. But when the real Baba Go-Slow came on board, and delayed for 6 months, didn’t we cheer him on?

5. One of the things for which we pilloried GEJ was when he said “he doesn’t give a damn” about declaring his assets, during the good old days of LIVE Presidential Media Chats. PMB came in and while he didn’t say so, he obviously showed he doesn’t give a damn. Did you complain?

6. We gave GEJ hell when he delayed in taking decisive action on the allegation levelled against his Aviation Minister, in the end he did. While I am not comparing sins, I have to ask have PMB’s people not surpassed the “sins” of Stella Oduah? Have we developed selective amnesia?

7. Can we take a moment and collectively ask, what would have become of President Jonathan if he had surrounded himself with the likes of Babachir Lawal, Abba Kyari, Babagana Kingibe, Orji Uzor Kalu, Godswill Akpabio, Adams Oshiomhole etc with all the allegations? #21Questions

8. Say the truth and shame the devil, would you not have torn your panties if it was under GEJ that the ex-fugitive Abdulrasheed Maina, accused of humongous pension fund scam was reinstated into the public service and promoted? When it happened, did we not say Baba did not know?

9. When did the meeting take place in which we decided to blame everyone around PMB but the man himself, on whose table the bulk stops? From his days as PTDF Boss till date as the President, have we not indulged him by justifying the passing of bulks or claiming Baba didn’t know?

10. In the days of acute fuel scarcity or corruption in the NNPC, did we not take past Petroleum Ministers to task & accuse them of corruption & incompetence? From 2015 till date do we even remember that Baba is the Petroleum Minister, let alone hold him accountable? #21Questions

11. If GEJ had opened his mouth to say he instructed the IGP to go to a State in Nigeria to tackle a security challenge & the IGP refused and GEJ openly confessed that he discovered it only several months after, won’t we have cried blue murder and asked for his head? #21Questions

12. Please remind me again, what was it that President Jonathan said or did that made us tag him “clueless”? While you are on it, have we found a name that is worse than clueless?

13. Can we remember when we ran out of excuses to justify the lethargic start to the administration of President Buhari and when we couldn’t find anything tangible to hold on to, that we had to resort to his “body language” as the magic wand? #21Questions

14. If any other President had admitted as far back as 2015 that his age would not permit him to discharge the functions of his office as it would have if he had become President much earlier in life, would we still have been urging the person on to 2023? #21Questions

15. If any public office holder at any level, never mind the President, had openly announced to the world his intention not to treat any part of his constituencies equally because they gave him only 5% votes, won’t you have rent your clothes and put on sack clothes? #21Questions

16. Was there any chill when the NASS discovered the multi-billion Naira fuel subsidy scam 2011-2015? Can you compare that with the pin-drop silence that followed the reluctant confession by this Govt that they even pay more fuel subsidy, disingenuously christened under-recovery?

17. Which other President in Nigeria would have watched the Ganduje Dollars Video and take to the public to defend him as a good man, or even express doubts on the authenticity of the video. More importantly, which other President would have escaped crucifixion for doing so?

18. Which other President (under a democracy) in Nigeria superintended over the locking up of Nigerians, openly and repeatedly defied court orders and refused to release them? El-Zakzaky, former NSA Sambo Dasuki etc? #21Questions

19. When President Yar’Adua had health challenges during the campaign, some of us screamed that he was not fit for the office and Baba had to ask Umoru are you dead? The New Baba has tripped or slumped twice now on the campaign trail, have we not unlooked? #21Questions

20. And as some of us have started to ask in recent times, how many of us would listen to President Buhari during a job interview and appoint him to head our private companies? So how do we in good conscience feel it is our national treasury that he should be in charge of?

21. It is for these and other reasons that I am convinced that a meeting held somewhere & you guys took the collective decision to lower the standard for President Buhari. My last question is, why was I not invited? Those are the #21Questions bugging me. I am sure you have yours.
