NEW: The federal judiciary now says it has enough money to fund operations through *Jan. 31* — the last estimate was through Jan. 25. Spox for the Administrative Office said they're looking for a way to make the money last through Feb. 1, but after that, no more extensions
By accessing this (clearly significant) pool of money funded by fees and other sources, the federal courts have avoided having to make tough decisions so far about furloughs and scaling back services. When that money runs out, we got a glimpse today of what's to come (from EDVA)
And a reminder that although DOJ is affected by the partial shutdown (lawyers/employees are either furloughed or working without pay), the shutdown does *not* affect special counsel Robert Mueller's office — they've got a permanent indefinite appropriation
