Hm. I can’t imagine black people or Indian people being happy with this answer.

Obama wrote a whole book deftly addressing the question of his identity. It’s part of what made him so relatable to so many. This dodge is odd.
In this same clip, she's asked about how she plans to get black voting numbers back up after the 2016 dip, and she pivots to "all voters." I don't especially have a problem with her answer, but I know if white politicians did this they'd catch hell.
Also, someone asks if there's anything she regrets any of her actions as a prosecutor and she pivots to some version of 'I wish I could've locked up more child molesters' which is the equivalent of saying "I work too hard" when asked about your faults during an interview.
She know's damn well what the questioner was getting at, and to side step the extent to which her office was the enforcement arm of a mass incarceration crisis while prisoners were dying fighting fires and truancy was criminalized is pretty tone deaf.
Especially since in her stump spiel she evokes police violence and parents who have to teach their young boys how to not get murdered by cops. It's pretty audacious.
Also, I didn't realize this interview was at Howard. She announces on MLK day, evokes Shirley Chisholm in her ads, gushes about how much Howard meant to her and then declines to say she identifies as part black? It's . . .interesting.
